On the Many Types of Ladies Shoe Available in the High Street Shops

Posted by admin in Apparel

With numerous varieties of women’s shoes and boots available to purchase, such as ladies sandals, it’s wise to identify the types of shoes on the market.

Flats
Flat shoes are simply shoes with no heel. Flat shoes are commonly slip on, however there are some styles that have a strap over the instep or lace up just like gentlemen’s dress shoes (known as Oxfords). Flats are practical; they look suitable with jeans, capri pants, and long or short dresses.

Heeled Ladies Shoes
Heel shoes come in many different heights and styles, like:-

  • Pump ladies shoes that are simple ladies shoes with a low-necked vamp (the top part of the shoe), an average height (2-to-3 inches high) tapered heel, and a rounded or pointed front.
  • Chunky heeled ladies shoes that come with a thick heel which does not taper a lot and are a lot more comfy to wear than narrow heels. They are for sale in each and every height and commonly have a square or rounded toe.
  • Stilettos that come with very high , highly pointed heels, often with a support inside to stabilise it. Stiletto heels frequently come with a very pointed front toe.

Ladies sandals
Ladies sandals feature casual and dressy varieties. Casual sandals typically come with a flat heel and can be pragmatic, or stylish, like strappy gladiator sandals. Prom sandals come with a high heel and satin or thin straps. Prom sandals are normally used for an evening out.

Women’s Mules
Mules are backless shoes and are normally low to mid heeled. Women’s mules are great when at work, since they are suitable to wear with trousers and skirts and may be casually taken off under the office desk to loosen up your feet.

Women’s Boots
Boots for ladies can be practical, such as sheepskin boots that are perfect for warmth, or riding boots perfect for riding horses. Trendy ladies boots feature a range of heel heights, from just to the anklebone or to the thigh.

Georges Marciano Takes Guess from Denim to Eyeglasses Conglomerate

Guess Eyeglasses

The 1980’s were good years for Guess brand. It was then that, in a move that still affects the fashion industry and consumerism, the Guess label ventured into designer eyewear. In January of 1989, as other powerhouse fashion companies were still ringing in the New Year, celebrating their successes during New York City’s fashion week, and looking towards what they were going to send down the International runways during the Spring. At that time, Guess brand was preparing to announce a venture that would have a fundamental affect on the fashion industry over twenty years later. On January 131989, Guess brand announced that they had purchased, not merely licensed, an eyeglasses company. Thus, Guess Eyeglasses was established.

Polishing off their 28th year of business, Guess Eyeglasses has become a staple in the fashion sector. Despite the latest hard economic climate, Guess Eyeglasses continues to thrive, which is a monument to their versatility in the marketplace as well as their irrefutable and attractive beauty. Guess offers a litany of different frames, such as vintage, retro, oversized, square, oval, circular, and rimless. There are a multitude of designs and patterns that decorate these designer eyeglasses, but unlike their competitors, Guess eyewear does not get bogged down in overly gaudy sequins and other embellishments. They let the simplicity of the design speak for itself. With very competitive prices, Guess realizes buying that name brand does not mean having to spend a small fortune.

Why is Orlando So Popular?

Posted by admin in Apparel

Lets clear up a few misconceptions about Florida in general and Orlando and its attractions in particular.

Firstly for those of us from the U.K. or Europe, it is important to mention the sheer size of this place, although one of the smaller US states (22nd largest), Florida is roughly the same size as England and Wales combined, with Walt Disney World alone equivalent in size to Sheffield! Orlando itself is larger than many small countries.

The point I am making here is that Orlando is a BIG place, for those that have not made the “pilgramage” to Florida with the kids in tow, I cannot emphasise enough the relative difference in scale, a family could easily spend a whole week in Disneyworld, with plenty to see and do!

A popular conception in Europe is that Americans always seem to do things bigger and better, unfortunatley in this case its true! No matter which attractions or theme parks you may have visited previously in the UK, you will experience “shock and awe” as you see for the first time any of the larger Orlando parks.

These parks are so big that there are many full blown books and guides dedicated to each one, in fact, if you are planning a trip it would be advisable to read several guides and do lots of research on the web to plan your itinerary. Do not think for a minute that you can “do” a theme park in an afternoon, you will need a full day at least for the major attractions (of which there are many).

I would estimate it would take around 4-5 weeks for an average family to take in just the MAIN attractions. Many of the 34 million people visiting Orlando are repeat visitors, after a 1-2 week initial stay they want more, its not unusual to find yourself on the flight home thinking what a great time you have had - and at the same time feeling disappointed as you realise there is so much more that you missed.

Kate and Laura Mulleavy

Posted by admin in Apparel

If you’ve been following the fashion scene, by now you’ve most likely heard the names Kate and Laura Mulleavy. New to the fashion world and hitting it full force, these two young girls are an inspiration for others. Without formal training but armed with determination, charm, and great ideas you reach your dreams.

Sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy new Rodarte line is full of nostalgia capturing the feel of the 1930s in America. It was only last year that sisters Kate and Laura decided to launch their own label Rodarte.

They were determined to cut no corners using only the most expensive fabrics.

Rodarte is based on the strong American spirit. Fashion icons such as Carole Lombard were inspirational to their designs. The Rodarte line can be found at Mix in Houston and Kirna Zaberte in New York.

26 year old Kate and 24 year old Laura both graduated from Berkeley. Neither has any formal fashion training, only a passion for the history of the past. Both have always had an interest in designing clothing.

Rodarte is named after their Grandfather a Zacatecan coal miner who immigrated to America during the Mexican Revolution. The family’s linage is very important to both girls. They are also very close to each other which is why they make such a great team.

These inseparable sisters have been in business a very short period of time when they got a break. The Mulleavy sisters introduced their small collection of silk dresses adorned with peacock feathers and Italian-wool evening coats.

Their collections were as aesthetically pleasing as the works of famous designers such as Calvin Klein. They certainly were the most talked about.

Kate and Laura wrote a letter to vintage guru Cameron Silver charming him with their 10 piece Rodarte collection. He invited them to set up shop during L.A. Fashion Week at Decades.
Even without formal training, it is very apparent that this sister act has a sense of style and design as their small Rodarte collection quickly gains momentum.

Their line will soon be found in some of the countries best boutiques. LA’s Satine, Houston’s Mix, Chicago’s Ikram, New York’s Kirna Zabette. They’ve even managed a private showing for Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

The collection ranges from $1300 to $2000 in price. It’s themed around the romantic west, nature, and their personal family linage. Their black wool crepe bodice dress is an all time favorite.

Made from strips of stiff fabric resembling tree trunks, with a delicate flowing skirt. The Earhart coat is a one pocket trench coat, and their military coat is black double faced wool accented with a thin row of pheasant feathers. How much closer to nature can you get?

Their fast growing recognition has people wondering who they know. The reality is they haven’t made their debut because of who they know. They’ve come to be on talent and the goodwill of the fashion industry.

Their current collection is exactly what stylish women want to wear. Their talent is excellent, there genuine about wanting to design and their personalities are drawing.

It will be interesting to see where these girls are in a few years.

Women’s Fashion Ponchos Get Sexy This Summer

Posted by admin in Apparel

Ponchos have come down from the high plains and back into high fashion on to the catwalks this season.

Women’s fashion ponchos featured strongly on the catwalks this season.

Gone are the heavy, horse-blanket style ponchos of yesteryear, replaced by delicate fabrics and sexy styles that complement every body. Fashion ponchos hide a multitude of sins.

Whether you choose silky, sheer and sexy, or embroidered ethnic style, the poncho can be adapted for all sizes and all occasions.

Your fashion poncho can be thrown over a pair of jeans for a chic, casual look, or dress it up with a glittery brooch over your favorite little black dress for night time style.

The hot fashion trend straight from the catwalk was the shabby-chic boho-style fashion poncho, ornamented with embroidery, beads and sparkles. Or the casually elegant cashmere poncho, perfect with your favorite jeans.

Ponchos also come short and long this season. The chic little shrug-style poncho clasped or tied on the shoulder in soft knits and delicate lace was featured by many European designers for spring/summer. Also featured were longer, asymmetrical fashion ponchos in a rainbow-bright display of colors and patterns.

Whatever your look for this summer, there is a women’s fashion poncho to suit.
