Reduced Numbers of Winter-Sports Vacations Available this Coming Winter Season Means Less Discounts

Posted by admin in Living + Recreation, Way Out

Snowboarders and skiers can expect ski holidays to cost upwards of 12 % more for ski holidays this season as tour operators cut back the number of trips available.

Peak-season trips will be particularly pricy however even at different dates there may be hardly any big reductions on vacations.

Skiing industry insiders say that with ski companies cropping holidays by up to 15 % costs are unlikely to be reduced.

Bookings for luxury skiing are already greater than the supply during half term that for the 2nd consecutive year will fall on the same week for nearly all schools in Great Britain.

The increment in prices and a decrease in the no. of vacations follows a very fine skiing season for snowboarders with good snowfalls throughout the Alps.

The fall of the sterling against the Euro wiped out profit margins and left lots of smaller companies in debt.

Things look up for snowboarders prepared to vacation in January or Mar, when prices will increase about 17 per cent on average, in place of 35 % for high-season dates.

Airline businesses, chalets and ski resorts are beginning to realise that they provide holiday makers discounts or special offers. Organised holidaymakers will purchase as many add ons ” ie. ski passes and equipment rental ” in sterling before they leave home.
