Fast Go Carts - Pure Fun!

Posted by admin in Wheely Feelies

If you are looking for action get ready for some exciting adrenaline-pumping action. Go carts, either racing or off road, is a thrill you won’t soon forget!

The heart-pumping excitement of speeding down the track in a fast go cart, just inches from other gocarts on either side, is an experience that is hard to beat. Who will be the first to lift off the gas pedal as you race bumper to bumper entering a sharp corner? Racing off road or on a paved track in one of your sleek go carts, maneuvering around sharp corners and lesser gocart drivers, is just about as fun as it gets for kids or adults alike. Slamming the accelerator to the floor as you pass mere inches alongside other drivers is a thrill that will forever be remembered. Experience the fun and excitement of go carting and you’ll be hooked for life.

If you have ever witnessed a Formula One race or watched those Indy Cars traveling by at about 240 MPH as you sit in Victory Circle you know how exciting it can be. The speed. The danger. There’s nothing quite like it. Unless you are climbing into one of those off road or racing gocarts yourself. If you thought watching was fun you should try racing yourself. Revving up your engine, slowly pulling it out on the track, the anticipation is almost unbearable. It’s hard to wait for the green flag and the moment you can pounce on the gas pedal. But once that flag is waved, and you press the accelerator down in your gocart with all your might , and you feel an immediate burst of power as your go cart lunges forward and your heart beats like it is ready to pop out altogether. What a thrill. What unsurpassed excitement.

If you ever wondered what it would be like racing Formula One there is one way to find out, go carts, only without so much of the danger. Start with safe beginner go carts and work your way up to faster classes. It may also be the best method of working your way into a professional racing career. Many top professional drivers today got their start with the lowly go cart. Once you master driving go carts you can take the next logical step and move into the arena of professional racing. If you’re fast you’ll get discovered, no doubt. But if you are not so motivated, and just want the thrill without the commitment, remaining in a beginner go cart will always be exciting.

Go carts are an ideal entry point for the amateur driver, whether off road or track racing. Beginner go carts are easy to drive and control. If you’ve ever driven a car you know how to drive a gocart. And depending at what level you belong to it’s a safe hobby. Losing control of your vehicle is not like losing control of your car on the highway. There are seldom any serious injuries with gocarting. At least not with the beginner go carts. No, the thrill is there without so much of the danger. Go carting is a scaled-down version of Formula One racing. The difference is that there are many different levels that you can become involved in. Anywhere from safe beginners to fledgling professionals.

In fact, you don’t even have to go to a specific go cart track for racing. Many people find what they need at amusement parks and fun centers. If safe and slow is what you have in mind there are many places for inexperienced drivers to get a thrill. Find tracks geared toward the least experienced drivers to ovals where you can train to become a professional driver. You can choose your own competition level. No need to get in too deep, at least not until you’ve had a little experience. The main objective with racing or off road carting is to have fun. And once you get into your own go cart, no matter what level you are competing in, the fun just never seems to end.

But be warned, once you try go carting chances are you’ll become addicted. It’s a foregone conclusion, so beware. If you’re interested in purchasing a shiny new gocart that’s ready for racing you can do that. But you can also buy inexpensive kits and build your own gocarts these days. Building your own will give you more confidence in yourself as a driver too. You can learn how to do just about everything from installing rack and pinion steering to changing tires. In no time at all you will be the race driver and the mechanic as well. Wouldn’t it be fun to install your own brand new custom engine designed for improving the speed of go carts? Or changing your old frame with a new frame that will make your ride even flashier? Perhaps you will want to get into electric go carts instead of gas powered go carts. The way gas prices have been climbing these days electric gokarts are definitely something you want to think about.

But here is the bottom line: it’s fun to race at any speed and at any level. And whatever level you choose to race in, these go carts will reach speeds that will be exciting and thrilling. And that’s what counts. But don’t start getting nervous just yet. Remain calm. If thinking about going fast makes you nervous just remember that there are opportunities for thrills at every level, even at the beginning level. You do not need to go 80 MPH to experience the thrill of the race. If you have ever thought about getting involved with go carts, now is a good time because you are never too old. It’s exciting at any age. So get involved with go karts and discover all the excitement you’ve been missing in your life.

Dexter Smith is an amateur go cart driver. He does not compete professionally, but enjoys driving for fun. For more information about go carts please visit his site about go cart vehicles.

Cruise Ships - What Price is a Cruise?

Posted by admin in Media Tips

I find it very interesting to read different people’s opinion’s of the exact same cruise - one person loved it, the next person hated it. Before a trip, I gobble up every review I can get my hands on - there are always some helpful tips in the reviews, and it prepares you for some things you would never have
thought of.

I think finding a cruise line that fits your life style and tastes makes most sense. This requires doing research and asking fellow travelers about their experiences and travel agents on various lines. Reviews also can also be helpful but I think the most important factor is understanding the type of cruise, and the tastes, of the person reviewing the ship was seeking, because this always flavors the review. There are many contrasting reviews of the same cruise in the various review sites on the web.

Sometimes you’ll find people on the same cruise, with the same accomodations, have paid significantly different fares. This may have to do with whether they are repeaters, deals from travel agents, deals from the cruise lines, etc.

Advertising and brochures should be taken for what they are, promotional materials. Prices in brochures are usually 30% or more higher than actual prices that TA will be able to get.

There may be plenty of interesting cruise lines that are not the biggest lines. The most commonly known lines are Carnival, Celebrity, Holland America, Norweigan Cruise Lines, Royal Carribean, and Princess. There’s also the smaller lines like Premiere, Disney, Costa and the luxury lines like Crystal, Cunard, Seabourn, Radisson, Silverseas, quite expensive, and some feel well worth it. Then on the other side of the scale there is the ultra casual, Windjammer Barefoot cruise lines, with sailships and other tall ships such as Windsurfer, which is a more formal line. There are, besides the big 6 lines, quite a bit of choices available to people interested in cruising.

There are small riverboat cruises, cruises and large boats that do specific, often very scenic, areas of the world, like Alaska, also.

I find that some people are very flexible, that they’ll enjoy a wide variety of styles of cruising. Others are more specific and discerning and some lines would not meet their expectations in some way or another. So, it really boils down to you and what experience, or range of experiences, you are interested in.

Spam — How Much Will It Cost Your Business?

Posted by admin in Internet Network Resources

According to a recent study conducted by Ferris Research, a market and technology research firm specializing in messaging and collaboration, Spam will cost U.S. businesses over $10 billion in 2003.

Spam not only clogs our servers and in-boxes, but it also costs us hours and hours of lost time in productivity.

Although the estimated cost of Spam focuses mainly on lost productivity, this picture may be much broader than you realize.

Some of the more popular email providers, such as AOL (America Online), Yahoo! and Hotmail, are now utilizing filters to cut down on Spam. These filters are dumping Spam and/or bulk mailings into a separate location. Although this may cut down on Spam in your in-box, these filters are also dumping some legitimate email messages.

What’s more, some hosting services not only filter the email messages, but they’re also blocking entire hosting companies. For example, the blocking host may have gotten some Spam complaints about a few marketers that host with ABC hosting company. (Keep in mind, ABC hosting company may host thousands of sites.) Rather than block the offending marketers, the blocking host decides to blacklist the entire ABC host.

What this means is if you try to contact someone and their hosting company has blacklisted your host, your email will not go through — it will bounce right back to you.

If you suspect you may not be receiving all of your email, contact your host and ask them if they’re using Spam filters or have blocked entire hosting companies.

How Much Will Spam Cost Your Business?

How much time do you spend sorting through the Spam in your email each day? Add it up sometime — I’ll bet you’ll find you spend a lot more time than you even realized — time that could have been spent on your business.

If you’re publishing an ezine or sending out any form of opt-in mailings, how many subscribers are actually receiving your mailings? Most-likely, not nearly as many subscribers as you may think. How many lost sales has this cost you?

How many messages, such as information requests, customer support requests, etc., have you not received due to filtering?

How many messages have you replied to that your customers or potential customers have never received due to filtering?

As customer service says a lot about your business practices, how many customers will you lose?

The list goes on and on. But the point is this, Spam is costing you dearly.

Protecting Your Email Address

So how can you defend yourself? Well, it depends on which side you’re on — how to protect yourself, and/or how to make sure your messages are getting through.

In order to protect yourself against Spam, you first need to understand how your email address is obtained.

There are many unethical businesses online that collect and sell email addresses. They use robots that travel from link to link in search of email addresses. Their customers are led to believe that these email addresses belong to individuals who want to receive mailings. However, much of the time, this isn’t the case.

Never purchase a list of email addresses from anyone other than a reputable company. The only company I can recommend is Post Master Direct. http://www.postmasterdirect.com

To protect your email address from these robots, instead of displaying your address on your site, use a feedback form. Not just any type of form, but a form that doesn’t display your email address within the hidden form fields. The only form I can recommend is Master Feedback. You can pick up a free copy here:
http://willmaster.com/master/feedback/index.shtml

Anytime you’re filling out a form online and you’re asked to provide your email address, make sure you review the site’s “Privacy Policy” to ensure that your email address will not be sold or shared with a third party.

Protecting Your In-box

To protect your in-box, you can use a Spam filtering software program. Although there are several available online, the best one I’ve found is Mail Washer. This program will enable you to view all the email on your server without actually downloading it into your email program. Once you’ve reviewed your messages, you can create filters and bounce the Spam messages back to the sender. Although you can pick up the program free, consider supporting the developer and register the software for a small fee. http://www.mailwasher.net

Avoiding the Spam Filters

If you’re sending out a mailing to an opt-in list, there are a few steps you can take to make sure your message won’t trip the Spam filters:

1) Avoid using trigger words, such as Spam, fr*e, r*move, etc. Although the list is far too broad to list here, you can learn more by reading the following articles:

Spam Filters Run-Amuck by Timothy A. Gross
http://www.iprofitsystems.com/articles/spamfilters.html

CLIP & SAVE guide to avoiding Spam filters by Debbie Weil
http://www.imakenews.com/wordbiz/e_article000094161.cfm

2) Avoid using JavaScript within your messages.

3) Avoid using “bad” words.

If you’d like to ensure your messages are getting through, consider opening email accounts with the popular providers. You can send your mailings to these accounts and monitor their reception. If your mailings land in the dump, you can make some adjustments or even contact the company.

If you would like to test your outgoing email messages to ensure they won’t trigger a Spam filter, Ken Evoy offers a great service called SpamCheck. This free service will enable you to send a copy of your publication, or any email message, to a specific address and it will return a report of possible words that will trigger the Spam filters.

Send your publication including the subject and body to:
mailto:spamcheck-websource@sitesell.net

Conclusion

The Spam problem continues to get progressively worse. Although there isn’t a simple solution to the problem, the information provided in this article should assist you in not only avoiding Spam, but also avoiding the filters for your legitimate mailings.

It’s really a shame we’re even in this position. However, we cannot allow Spam to continue to infiltrate our businesses. We must take the necessary steps to ensure our success.

How to Choose a GPS

Posted by admin in Telecommunication Portal

You’ve heard that new sport, geocaching, is fun. Or, you’re tired of getting lost on your travels. Welcome to the 21st century. Global Postioning System (GPS) has been around long enough that prices are reasonable and the technology is user-friendly. With myriad brands and models, how to choose?

If you want a GPS for both hiking and driving use, then a handheld unit would be the way to go. Some handhelds even have accessories to allow them to be installed in an automobile. But don’t rule out a PDA. More on that in a moment. For driving only, there are GPS receivers made just for vehicle use.

Handheld GPS receivers are either mapping or non–mapping. A basic, non–mapping unit can often cost less than $100 US and usually has/displays the following:

  • Location
  • Compass heading
  • Elevation above sea level
  • Accurate time
  • Satellite location and signal strength
  • The ability to calculate distance traveled
  • The ability to record your path as a set of waypoints
  • The ability to navigate routes
  • The ability to retrace your steps

Handheld mapping receivers do all the above plus have the ability to display maps. The maps are either pre–loaded or uploaded from your PC. Prices are reasonable for mapping units, starting at around $150 US.

Paper maps are strongly recommended whether you’re using a mapping receiver or not. Paper maps do not require batteries and probably won’t go defective. Also, a paper map gives you a “big picture” view of your situation — something lacking on the small screen of a GPS.

I mentioned earlier your considering a PDA with GPS capability. A PDA is bulkier and the battery life is usually shorter, but if you’re using a PDA anyway, then there are several ways to turn a PDA into a GPS. Some PDAs accept a GPS “sleeve.” That is a device that the PDA nestles into. Another choice is one of Garmin’s PDAs. Garmin is probably the most popular GPS maker and they have one PDA/GPS that is Palm–based and one that is Pocket PC–based.

Prices for automotive GPS start at around $250 US. These provide turn–by–turn guidance. Spend a little more than that and you get voice guidance. These are larger than handhelds in order to accommodate a screen large enough to be seen while driving. They are powered by the car’s electrical system and because of this, they can only be used in a vehicle.

Many automobile manufacturers now offer built-in GPS receivers as an option. Because they are built-in, the big advantages are security and aesthetics. They are quite a bit more expensive than add-on units and often have fewer options. I’ve also heard some stories of people having a hard time getting map updates.

A PDA/GPS is a good alternative for automotive use. Its screen is about the size of an automotive unit, so seeing the display is not a problem. They can also be powered by the car, eliminating battery worries. The Garmin PDAs mentioned above both come with the hardware and software for automotive use.

If you’re hiking, a basic handheld unit (without maps) will be fine since you’ll always have paper maps with you anyway (you will, won’t you?). An advantage to a handheld mapping unit is that they usually have more advanced features than the basic units. For driving, you have the choice of a handheld, in–car dedicated, or PDA. The handheld does have limited usefulness in a car, as it does not provide turn–by–turn guidance. For a more detailed look at how to choose a GPS, click here.

Water Cooler Chats

The chat at the Water Cooler is bubbling to boiling point this week, what with all that’s been in the news recently. There’s the sadness of Jade Goody and Natasha Richardson’s untimely decease. Both women were hailed as Princess Di’s (by Stephen Fry no less who referred to the former, as a Princess D from the wrong side of the tracks), both who had somehow, after death, taken on the status of national treasures. I’m wondering if ten years down the line, Goody would be loved as she is now, a woman who faced adversity with the courage and determination of a top class boxing pro. It’s those whom both women have left behind that I feel for. It was painful to see Liam Neason’s gaunt looking face and withdrawn, hollow look after such a tragedy that was so devastating. Goody’s family are of course equally distraught. The piles of flowers outside the Goody home were reminiscent of the ones swamping London during the nation’s mourning for the Princess. It’s strange how death turns people into martyrs and legends. No one ever says anything nasty about the dead. That’s how it should be I suppose. The ancient Romans held a high respect for the dead. We should follow their lead.

Betting Room Taking Risks: Guide to Betting

For clarification, a betting establishment is a building that offers card-playing. Here, aficionados will be encouraged to relax by challenging slot-machines or plenty of other gambling pastimes. Gambling saloon games for the most part have well calculated chances incorporated which make sure the gambling company secures dominion over the players. Casino Splendido

A lot of gaming hall games can goad you into being dependent in no time. Take the infamous one-armed bandit, a coin hungry appliance with three, sometimes more cogs that pivot once an arm connected to it is moved. The gadget more often than not rewards in accordance with a run of glyphs presented on the front of the instrument. Regrettably, betting saloon pastimes proffer the appearance of remaining in control, thereby deluding the guest - the victim is bestowed with options, but in reality they will not really compensate for the player’s fundamental handicap. That is induced by the casino not returning the full stake as hoped for. This systematic arrangement is frequently seen at work in well known casino games like Texas hold’em, craps, roulette or blackjack.

Poker is indisputably an immensely popular casino game. The patrons, playing with fully hidden cards, make wagers into a principal pot which is ultimately given to the prevailing punter possessing the winning set of cards. (As everybody knows, the shameless bluff may well prevail as well.) Quite like Texas hold’em poker, blackjack is likewise a very fashionable casino pastime. A substantial part of its repute is by virtue of its particular mix of chance and ingenuity and choice making, and a routine identified as “card counting”. The aforementioned is a skill through which visitors may dramatically skew the arm of chance of the game to their profit both by betting and systematic actions correlating with the cards dealt.

Craps is another very popular gambling hall game where punters predict the throw of 2 dice. Customers can wager on the score of 1 cycle, or on a succession of cycles on 2 dice. Very much unlike blackjack, there is no available long term killer tactics people could employ to ramp up the chances.

Roulette is another incredibly popular casino based pastime; a croupier twists a roulette wheel that accommodates thirtyseven (European roulette) or thirty eight (American roulette) uniquely tagged chambers in which a white ball must settle, which determines the final winning number Then if the player happens to bet on a number which wins so it’s their lucky day, the guaranteed ward is going to be 35:1, the original bet itself is returned. Hence in totality it’s multiplied by a factor of thirty-six.

Please try to be very very wary nevertheless as all of these betting hall gambling pastimes are indisputably obsessive. Myriad lives are known to have been destroyed through gambling + despite the fact that it arguably seems entertaining, do aim to practise self control.
